Classifying Thinkers.

1. Circle the thesis statement. How does Golding classify people?
The thesis statement is "Golding divides people into three categories". Golding classified people into three categories or grade based on how did the people think.

2. Underline the topic sentence of each body paragraph.
Paragraph 1 "According to Golding, 90 percent of the population represents the largest category, called grade-three thinkers."

Paragraph 2 "Grade-two thinkers, Golding's second category, are less likely to be influenced by a dictator."

Paragraph 3 "The remaining 1 percent of the population are what Golding calls grade-one thinkers."

3. How does the author describe 90 percents of the population? The remaining 9 percent? The final 1 percent?
The author describe 90% of the population as grade 3 thinkers because all they did is just following the orders and never questioned why.The remaining 9% and 1% are grade 2 and 1 thinkers respectively.Grade 2 thinkers think about themselves and they realized the corruption of a system but do not know hot to do something about it and the remaining 1% realized and know how to something about the corruption.

4. Underline the examples used in the third body paragraph to describe "Grade-one thinkers."
"Their lives are defined by beauty, wisdom and knowledge."

5. What is the writer's opinion of Golding's essay? In which paragraph do you find this opinion?
In the last paragraph.This is the phrase where the writer does not agree with Golding "As one of the so-called sheep, I say bah to Mr. Golding!".The writer think that Golding's idea is incorrect and every human have their own reason for doing or thinking about something.

6. What support (facts, examples) are used in the conclusion to argue the writer's point of view?
"In fact, sometimes the common sense and compassion of the ordinary man is all that stands between civilization and barbarism."
